Colin F. Jones

As though I were the plume that decks your helm,
In full glory for all the world to see,
I’m carried to the far reaches of your realm,
For I am a soldier that is serving thee.
Duty bound I’m sworn to risk my life,
To serve thy will on land and on the sea,
To leave my home my family and my wife,
For I have pledged to always keep you free.
I stand thy guardian armed for any fight,
To meet the foe where ever he may be,
To give my life for what I think is right,
To do my best in defence of thee.
For a soldier is the guardian of the land,
Ruled by thy gentle yet all-powerful hand.
