PEACE IS WHERE OUR BROTHERS SLEEP

War never ends; ‘tis part of life,
Germinating peace from perpetual strife,
For peace is but a rest from war,
Through which we suffer more and more.
Peace gives us time to weep or smile,
To live with loved ones for a while,
To hope and pray and visit graves,
Where soldiers’ spirits Jesus saves.
War gives us hope and brings us pain,
Culls the flocks and causes shame,
And by the slaughter changes things,
For callous death new purpose brings.
And while we fight, and die and weep,
Peace is where our Brothers sleep.
