Your eyes though narrow will see the sun,
And your hands will wear till time is done,
And you may well be sent to war,
And you will not really know what for;
And I will be your reluctant foe,
For I, to war, might also go…
Because you were born over there
In a culture that I do not share.
And I was born where you’ve not been,
And each others faces we’ve not seen
Until we meet on the battle field
Where one of us must die or yield;
Both persuaded that we were right,
Then vanish into perpetual night.
