LOST GLORY

Fly against the wind and you’ll be strong
Yet twigs that sway seldom ever break
Some would say retreat is always wrong
And yet defiance will a victor make
The bold so quick oft take a fatal stride
And from it glorify their name
While he unknown withdraws his lesser pride
To live to fight another war again
There are always better men than better men
And better ways to fight the better fight
But better soldiers are made better when
They live to see tomorrow’s morning light
It must be said that those who don’t return
Reap not the glory they do boldly earn
