Let not the dead live in your saddened hearts,
For then their spirits to heaven will not go,
You must allow their essence to depart,
For none of them belong to you, you know.
We all are souls having spirits and we feel,
Flesh is weak but thoughts inside are strong,
All the pain the sorrow you reveal,
In the long term do your comrades wrong.
Weep not for them who died that you can smile,
Cling not to them as though you own their souls,
For if you do their memories you defile,
And flags remain half-mast upon their poles.
Reap from them the purpose of their quest,
And let them go, that they in heaven can rest.
