Is it not from your arguments and views,
That I do make my words to write my muse,
That all I have lest I do take from books,
Words not mine and thoughts that taunt your looks.
‘Tis better to serve the world with what I know,
Reliant on the seeds that others sow,
To reach a purpose why a poet writes,
Seeking not to reach the foggy heights,
But yet to give some truth to those who read,
Who yet might lack the wisdom to proceed,
Through this life of falseness and lie,
Where what is seen deludes the honest eye,
And what in war we gain that’s more than pride?
The love of freedom that our eyes can’t hide!
