When soldiers go to battle overseas
Their names should not be given to the press
For the foe can use this info by degrees
And cause at home their families to distress
Death threats are sent and lies about their sons
And rumour rife is spread from door to door
Tis oft a better tactic than the guns
Especially where in wisdom they are poor
Tis time for silence in the streets and lanes
Make no reference to a soul you know
Who serves his time defending all your gains
By risking life against a clever foe
Heed this my friends give not the foe a name
Who might one day use it for his own gain
