~ God and War ~

The prestidigitator of righteousness, using God’s name,
Grants death to his soldiers thus avoiding all shame.
Tossing his cudgels from one hand to another:
Which palm is the monster? Which hand does he cover?
The morning was sunny, the ships found full sail
But they ran into a problem – an ill informed gale!
That the ships began sinking, that the captains and crew
Were helplessly marooned, not knowing what to do.
Mishandled; entangled in what they did not expect,
Too late for the great God to withdraw and eject.
So they search for the lesson that is too late to learn,
While their soldiers and warriors waste as they burn.
But prayers will resurrect them; as monuments of stone,
As in flag covered caskets they carry them back home.
