~ God and War ~
PADRES

Did you kill as I killed, knowing death
Would linger in your heart forever more;
Like cordite caught upon your breath,
To remind you of the fight you fought?
They knew who sent us – they were old.
They knew the agony the war would bring.
Would we have known had we been told
Or would it not have changed a thing?
And where are you sweet Lord in this,
As I watch your padres, weak and worn
Pretending that they share your bliss
While dodging dusk to claim the dawn?
What do these God’s advisors know
Who have not fought against the foe?
