~ God and War ~

Faith is the evidence of absence,
Of that which cannot be seen
But exists with perpetual presence
Like a ghost in a comforting dream.
It changes the view of the tyrant,
Hiding fear behind his pretence.
For the sabre still sharp and pliant
Demands fear as a part of defence.
Dread promotes, in us, caution
Which in turn develops our skills
To anticipate any absorption
Of whatever threatens our wills.
Thus faith, though it may give protection,
Is absent in the warrior who kills.
