No man walks lonely with good friends
When nothing is at stake
‘Tis the test on whom he can depend
When he makes a fair mistake
Some more oft will turn away
While some will lend a hand
For good folk do as they do say
Which is what friends understand.
The soldiers who marched off to war
Formed friendships, deep and sound,
That crossed the gap ‘tween rich and poor,
That they were lifelong bound.
Yet some would watch the river flood,
And watch their comrades drown
