The enemy we can’t see is ever there
exploiting all the freedom that we share;
for freedom is like fire blazing bright
it self-destructs by its redeeming light.
‘Twas Mao’s tool to use the western way,
by playing on their conscience to allay
the greater wrath of an all-out war,
that bye and bye would rot within the core.
If that we were more cruel to be kind,
‘twould not be freedom, for freedom’s self defined,
but based on truer justice against crime
that now is, by its purpose, in decline.
Towards a better system we may walk
but a clever foe exploits the time we talk.
