Colin F. Jones

Your mind might yet sub-serve a better plot,
Than that formed in the mind you haven’t got.
But free to voice the thoughts of your mind’s form
Gives you not freedom for your words to scorn.
Does freedom allow the use of hate to blame
With racist words that would another shame,
Or yet provide a reason to demean,
Another man due to his different dream?
‘Tis not true freedom that is absent from the law,
That retains not the values of those who died in war,
‘Tis not a word that can be bent to any shape,
To support the critic with a false escape.
‘Tis all for all or not at all for one,
Lest we have lost what we once proudly won.
