Colin F. Jones

They will come after us,
and write of our wars,
not for us,
Not for the soldier,

but for themselves…

They will be read,
Before monuments,
From pulpits and altars,
But it will not be for us…

But for themselves…

They will remember those,
They never knew,
Shamed by the few,
To remember…

But for themselves…

And it will go on,
Until we are forgotten,
By a new set of memories,
Not for us…

but for themselves.
