CHOICE AND FREEDOM

I wish, my friend, that He would lift you up
And change the bandage that you suffer not
But this is not the way God fills his cup
He gives no armour to evade the shot
He gives us choice and yet ‘tis seldom seen
For all those folk who rule the way we are
Control our choice for our King or Queen
To keep us free or send us off to war
Freedom fought for, is a choice denied
For freedom can’t be won if it exists
And freedom won can never be applied
For power over others still persists
So what is freedom – fallacy or fact?
Or just some empty words stored in an act?
