‘God accepts me as I am’ for he has no choice,
I went to Vietnam; didn’t hear his voice.
Nor did I expect that he would be,
Where reality is all a man can see.
People accept me if they like my way,
Or pity me because they like to pray,
But only those I call my friends,
Are the folk on which tolerance depends.
Yet I have walked this world alone,
And fought my battles on my own,
For I believe that I can win my way,
From winter’s darkness to light of day.
Until Mother Nature takes me back,
When life is all that I do lack.
