A PRESIDENT’S SONG

Then let us fight this war today,
to save our sons tomorrow,
that they die not mid the fray,
and suffer all our sorrow.

Then let our sons do the same,
and from our wisdom borrow,
that growing strength will detain,
their sons of all their sorrow.

For when the die of war is cast,
peace forever is depleted,
that the only folk who seem to last,
are those folk who retreated.

Then let us fight this war today,
to save our sons tomorrow,
that they die not mid the fray
and suffer all our sorrow.

Then let our sons do the same,
and from our wisdom borrow,
that their sacrifice will detain,
their sons of such sad sorrow.

Then all our sons will be spared,
the wars their fathers fought;
that all that horror and despair,
was just a passing thought.
