OF THE WORLD

Four Sins: 3 NE 6:15... power, and authority, and riches, and the vain things of the world

(Prelude:

Prophets have spoken
generation to generation
yet man remains unawoken
generation to generation.)

Part 1: Riches

Accumulation of wealth
seeking more and more
regardless of ones health
embracing greed’s whore.

Not giving or oft sharing
hoarding and bitterly seen
never for another caring
only more riches to glean.

Gold, silver and treasures
money, jewels and oils
endlessly without measures
their very being spoils.

Part 2: Vain Things

Seeking bigger homes
newer automobiles
four wheelers and boats
finding things to collect
spending money often
responsibilities to neglect
winning popularity votes
tempting into more deals
investing in old tomes
vain things gluts to soften.

Wanting silver and gold
rubies and precious stones
fancy clothes and attire
always looking for more
vain things to now enjoy
never giving to the poor
only in frivolity to retire
bemoaning growing loans
rust and moth to behold
vain things which destroy.

Part 3: Power

Wickedly entrapping
no quarter giving
kings/queens capping
controlling the living.

Constantly deceiving
telling half-truths
with nations grieving
adults and all youths.

Changing and rewriting
cowering behind laws
using armies fighting
wickedness’s claws.

Claiming more and more
scorning treaties made
meanness at the core
cheaply values strayed.

Part 4: Authority

Taken without keys
man given to man
nothing from nothing
having no authority
then giving authority
nothing from nothing
man given to man
creating without keys.

Boasting on the new
bestowing Universities
creating gifts to give
seeking dominion of all
taking dominion of all
creating gifts to give
bestowing universities
bloating on the new.

Authority to make law
corruption now complete
ruling without history
rewritten into nothing
nullity into nothing
ruling without history
corruption now complete
authority to all appall.

Conclusion: Tasteless

Bitterness acquired
substance ignored
lusts ever desired
life left now gored.

Having too much
compelling more
invisible to touch
left as the whore.

Found far in sin
living life baseless
emptiness within
choices tasteless.

(Epilogue:

To the market gone
gluttonies to extreme
only evil to spawn
nothing left to dream.)
