MULTIPLES

Photograph ©Copyright 2004 by Charles J. IngersonFirst there was one
shy and a tad quiet
so much to be done
no time to play riot.
Then there were two
giggles and wild smiles
breaking hearts true
with childish oft wiles.
Then there was three
discerning and demure
no more happy ‘oh gee’
but happily so mature.
Then came number four
married and so stable
of and children galore
knowing mom so capable
Now we’re at number five
or maybe six or seven
still very much so alive
thinking more of heaven.
Multiples of one's self known
seen through the years
how she has finely grown
amid joys and the tears
