wanting everything right
solely intent on doing
oblivious to all around
almost non-breathing
in small hands held

Intensity of the child
gathering in strength
forgetting any sound
lighting a candle bright
touching the infant
holding the flower
in soft hands held

Should only I find
this ability seen such
a young child’s being
involved without guile
sharing and inner self
with all those present
in gentle hands held
