Surely somewhere else
is there a peace found
causing none to stir
or even hear a sound.

Deep in the woods gone
where nature quiet waits
allowing each silent time
and all hatred abates.

Given to the emotions
wanting to be left alone
cold, lonely within feelings
gray hairs gently blown.

Marching to the drummer
hearing again the fife
standing resolute in age
knowing to surrender life.

Known to see or find
moments unshared at all
just able to understand
those hearing tattoo’s call.
