Charles J. Ingerson

Standing still in the rain
everywhere motions slow
embarrassed by the pain
as tears reflected to flow.

Reaching my hand to touch
but restrained in air still
flashings of lightning clutch
holding me against my will.

Soaked but hardly to feel
healing completely lost
my memory seeks to seal
what reflected tears cost.

Flags hanging limp and wet
no wind to unfurl or wave
not even a sun to set
only my presence stayed.

A lonely place to be found
beyond some other wall
thinking of honor bound
feeling tears reflected call.
