Charles J. Ingerson

Sadly lost in time
little thoughts gone
how thin the line
when found alone.

Finding nothing more
empty spaces instead
how vacant the door
only living are the dead.

Missed engagements
missed sacred vows
missed old arguments
missed all that allows.

How young and naïve
seeking excitement all
only bowels to relieve
hearing a war’s sound.

Please let me learn
so others won’t need
lessons to discern
children able to heed.

Gone into the ages
leaving mortality go
turning no more pages
unable longer to grow.
