Days and nights together
1st hour to the 4th watch
24/7 every day of the year
unending and unceasing
wherever battles fought
where brave soldiers died
others wounded for life
sadness grips places oft
where patrolling is eternal
some in mortality still
others on the other side
sacred and hallowed
when freedom at stake
evil to be defeated then
and again tomorrow
for memories are short
except for those who stand
endless and forever patrols!

Orion Howe, a Drummer Boy, 14 years of age and severely wounded and exposed to heavy fire from the enemy, personally remained on the field of battle until he had reported to General W.T. Sherman of the necessity of supplying cartridges for the use of troops under the command of Colonel Malmborg.
