No longer to fight until
An exchange to fill;

One for one equal rank
Till put in holding tank

Called detention camps
Marked with evil stamps

Poor food and civil rights
Attacked by own at nights

Others wandering home
Created problem of own

Some send west to fight
Many to escape in full flight

Problems and logistics
More than mere statistics;

Honor bound all to obey
Laying down arms to stay

A person’s word to honor
Never ever to dishonor

Yet long ago was not now
Virtue, honor to not vow

Throughout all history
Stopped without mystery

The Civil War was the end
To prison camps to send

Many inefficiencies to be:
No longer soldier to be free!
