Charles J. Ingerson

Charles J. Ingerson: Forget-Me-NotsLittle flowers
by the roadside
as yellow ribbons
in loneliness abide.

Coming annually
needing space
nourishment and love
their journey to trace.

Am I able to begin
in observance to know
as these small flowers
each year to more grow?

Somehow in infamy
dates now more profuse
where found indignity
of another’s abuse.

Thus this year joining
the others of the past:
September 11th, 2001
a date forever to last.

Depending on a view
distant heard the drums
caissons now ever toll
a sacred silence comes.

Forget-me-nots three
blue-bird, rose, firmament
viewed through tears
in this precious moment.
