Charles J. Ingerson

Sunshine dipping low
mountains to intervene
casting shadows full
memories to now glean.

Freedom beckons me
wondering why so alone
understanding to be free
find myself without home.

Walking ever forward
into the nights so fast
never found the coward
when shadows so cast.

Ever and ever to proceed
knowing dangers lurks
accountable action’s deed
never duties one shirks.

Casting shadows in life
finding them growing long
amid so much daily strife
never to sung in a song.
