Charles J. Ingerson

Mud and rains to complain
deep ruts and holes to blame;
Rough and tumble the trip
all humanity trying to strip;
Wagons burning and destroyed
while scavengers now deployed;
Praying on the weak and dying
coyote’s closer now prying;
Broken spokes freedom denying
while spirits hardships defying;
Prayers quiet, sincere employed
all depression thus destroyed;
Time to heal those who slip
while children happily skip;
Heading to Zion without shame
Saints learning not to complain!
