Roger W Hancock
“The Poet Patriot”

Roger W HancockRoger is an ‘S.O.V.’ (Son of a Vet). His father, Kenneth A. Hancock served in the US Army Air Corp and his uncle, John Hancock served in the US Army, both during World War II.

Hancock had been oblivious of the American political system until 1988 when he switched from being a Democrat to becoming a Republican activist. Hancock says, “When I was uninformed and apathetic I was a Democrat”. He stated “I looked at both platforms and asked myself: why am I a Democrat?” Just as the worse non-smoker is an ex-smoker, Hancock is now the worse kind of non-Democrat.

When asked to write letters-to-the-editors since 1988 he would respond with “Nah, I’m not good at writing.” Then in 2000 he wrote his first letter-to-the-editor figuring he couldn’t sound as stupid as the actions of the Democrats he wrote about. That was the beginning of the over seventy letters that have been published on one newspaper or another.

Since writing his first serious poem ‘Life Abounds in Nature’s Sound’ in January of 2001, Roger has not stopped writing and his many patriotic poems justify his Internet handle, PoetPatriot.
