Mary Hamrick

Mary Hamrick was raised in New York and Florida. She once read, “We cannot know what quality a thing possesses when it is unknown.” She feels that it is important not to tuck away the things you like to do--one must focus on this moment of discovery (writing poetry) and hope for a startling consequence: professional acknowledgment and/or self-fulfillment.

Forthcoming and current publications include the following:, All Things Girl, Amaze: The Cinquain Journal, Architecture Ink, HA! Writer’s Haven Press, On the Page Magazine, Poetry Repair Shop, Promise (Purple Rose Publications), Red Hills Reader (Thomasville Cultural Center, Inc.), The Tallahassee Democrat newspaper, Tattoo Highway (first prize, August 2003), and others.
