John D. Grant
John was born in Birmingham, England in 1946 and emigrated from England to Canada with his parents when he was 2 months old.
Happily married for 37 years, John and his wife have two daughters, both grown and on their own. He and his bride have lived in “God’s Country”, the beautiful Okanagan Valley in Kelowna, for 33 years after moving from Thunder Bay, Ontario for 26 years.
John retired on November 1, 2002 at age 55 and is enjoying every second of his retirement.
He’s never felt the need to go back to work because of the lack of things to do; he now has time to pursue some of the things that he’s always wanted to, including golfing 4 days a week and practicing and playing the violin. He also compiles a monthly newsletter for the United Commercial Travellers Club of which he is a member.
Having always enjoyed poetry, John is now making an attempt to write more of, but relegates this as a winter endeavour because he feels there is too much to enjoy during the summer months.
As adoring grandparents to a 2-year-old boy, John and his wife often travel to Vancouver Island to visit him. John wrote, “He turned 2 on December 23, and we just adore him. He keeps us laughing and it is amazing to watch him develop his learning skills.”
John’s Dad is a veteran who served and saw action overseas.
