COLLATERAL DAMAGE
Scenes of red mist
and bloodied streams
flow from body limbs
strewn around the country
and city. Grisly reminders of war:
crumbled buildings and smoldering
frames of armored and civilian
vehicles. Awful sounds of children
and people screaming from
injuries or loss of loved ones
caught in the crosshairs of battle.
How quickly these souls are
forgotten, listed as collateral damage,
except the scars will always remain
with families and victims of
these wars. Remember, they endured
the most to have freedom for all.
