I WISH I HAD A MILLION BUCKS
I wish I had a million bucks, or maybe even two,
But not to spend on me or mine, there are other things I’d do…
There are so many different needs throughout the neighborhood,
Like helping folks with buying food and maybe fire wood…
I’d pay off all their family debts, put some money in their bank,
I’d help the schools and churches teach our children to give thanks…
I’d maybe buy some gasoline for those that need to travel,
To the doctor, store or other place that really, really matters…
I’d pay the bills that buy the heat that helps to keep them worm,
I’d throw in blankets, boots and gloves to beat the winter storm…
I’m sure that I would have enough to buy a thing or three,
For all the boys and girls that need some Christmas and a tree…
If I just had a million bucks to give away to some,
I’d demonstrate just what it means when Santa really comes…
However, it’s unfortunate, that this is but a dream,
I’ll still attempt to show a world what Christmas really means…
Take the time to hold their hand and tell them that you care,
Explain that they are special and hug them while there here…
It doesn’t take a lot of bucks to fill a person’s heart,
Just love and joy and happiness provide a handsome start…
So close your eyes and say a prayer, ‘cause “millions” seem elusive,
But giving of yourself to others makes you more inclusive…
Just remember, all the while you’re contemplating reasons,
That faith in those around you helps you celebrate the season.
