Billy F. Dial Jr
Billy was born Billy Frank Dial Jr. on October 9th, 1962 in Washington D. C to Bill and Elizabeth Dial. His parents were native Tennesseans who moved to the Virginia area to take jobs they had been offered. The family would live in and around this area for the first 10 years of his life with one of these years being spent in Pennsylvania, in a town that escapes his mind. While the first ten years of his life were spent in the Arlington Virginia area, his parents would always send him to spend each summer mother’s parents in Lansing Tennessee. It was there, in East Tennessee, that he would begin to develop his love for the state he would eventually call home, regardless of where he found himself.
Billy has spent the last 25 years in service with the United States Marine Corps. In this time he has traveled abroad to many countries throughout the world. During this time he met and married his lovely wife Shellie. They have been married 19 years and have six daughters and currently 10 grand children. His love for Shellie is what first brought him to begin writing. His work started with simple love poems while deployed far away. Whether time and separation had an influence is moot, as she was the one who inspired them.
His love for God has a significant influence in his writing. His writings display everything from praise, spiritual reflection and the every day emotions of life. His feelings of sadness, joy, longing and remorse can also be sensed in his work.
