STILL IN BRAIDS

Woke up late
Had to be at work by eight
‘Too late, I’m afraid,
Cause it’s five minutes till’

Rushed around
Like a chicken
Without a head
Got clothes from the dryer
‘N’ took ‘em to my room

Puttin’ on clothes in a mad rush
Lost the cell phone in the pile
(So I thought) but
‘Ah-ha!’ It was on the shelf
By the bed

Had to get the trash out
Before the clock said nine
Still running ‘round like
A headless chicken
While I’m taken’
The garbage to
Its bin

“Speedy Gonzales”
As I’m a mutterin’
To myself
While I’m
Zipping ‘round
To dig out the laptop
From under the
Pile on the bed

‘Got it!’
‘N’ put it in the bag
To be placed
On top of
The work basket
On wheels
To get it
Out the door

‘Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
It’s coooooooold outside!’
Had to grab an extra jacket
Now shut and lock the doors
‘N’ got in a very cold car
To drive off to work

Looked into the mirror
And what did I see?
‘Still in BRAIDS!!!’
From,
The night before
