QUIETING THE SILENCE

If I could quiet the silence
And rid the mind of memories
From deafening sounds of
Horrors, screams, and cries

If I could quiet the silence
And free the mind of grieving
All sources of memento mori
Terrors and trepidations leaving

If I could quiet the silence
And ease the thoughts of war
Consolations given freely
Weapons and arms no more

If I could quiet the silence
And bring back stillness of heart
Ceasing the long, blank stare
No more sanities breaking apart

If I could quiet the silence
And bring comfort to the weary
I’d play Creator’s melodious tunes
‘N’ helps cleanse away the teary

Author’s Note: Tony – If I could help comfort all of you, I would: it brings me great sadness to see how much you all have suffered, still suffering, and those horrible memories. I pray for peace soon for you all and the rest of mankind. This poem was inspired by “The Silence” ©Copyright October 2, 2007 by Terry D. Sutherland
