DEAD BEAT DAD
you promised me a ring
we had a little fling
you promised me a life
as a loving husband
as a loving wife
things didn’t work as planned
you dealt yourself a bad hand
i took our son away
not by choice
i must say
now you sit at home
telling yourself
i did wrong
when all you did was lie
you never really tried
now he’s four years old
asking me Mom
where is my daddy
when will he come
don’t you understand
he is your little man
but i hope one day he’ll be
half the man you’ll never be
