ON GROWING OLD!
How do you know
When you are growing old?
Is it because when others are warm
You are always cold?
Or is it when the
Sounds you hear
Are rather muffled
Upon reaching your ear?
Maybe there are other
Hints, like failing to read
The small print in the paper
And then giving no heed!
Could it be that
Your walk has changed
And that your cellulite
Has been re-arranged?
Does your memory fail
To work for you
When you need to remember
What it was you need to do?
Have you forgotten
That you joined the AARP
Some twenty years ago
In MS, or was it in Tennessee?
Time does work faster
When one is having fun.
But now slow is your walk
And never is your run!
So, you’re admittedly
Growing very old;
Just make very sure
That your heart
Is not growing cold!
