ANDS AND BUTS!
If ‘ands’ and ‘buts’
Were candy and nuts,
Wouldn’t it be
Christmas all year?
How often do we hear
‘Ands’ and ‘buts’
And discover that
Christmas isn’t here?
‘But’ is a conjunction,
And a ‘butt’ is an injunction
By a four-footed beast
Bent in our direction:
Bent with his head
Held quite low
And headed where
He ought not to go.
Kick him in the conjunction,
Butt him with your head
And you’ll surely end up
In a horizontal position in your bed!
(No ‘ifs’ and ‘buts’ about it!)
