SOLOED SO LONG AGO
For all you B-29 pilots
Who soloed an eternity ago,
Have you forgotten the thrill
Of landing a small plane so slow?
Many thrills you’ve had since then,
But some you did not choose.
Not an adrenaline rush for yourself
But for each member of you crews.
Would you do it over again
To fly the Superfortress in the sky,
Or would you choose to keep
Your shoes upon the ground?
I think your answer would be clear,
For B-29 pilots control their fear,
And those who soloed so long ago,
Have enough adrenaline left to flow!
