SHE WALKS AMONG THE FLOWERS

She walks among the flowers
in her youthful days and hours;
A maiden in her tender years
never knowing the vale of tears.

Her smile and penetrating eyes
reflect the beauty of the skies;
Now engaged to wed her soldier man
who soon must sail to a distant land.

She holds her baby close to her breast
as among the flowers, they both rest.
She reads the letter held in her hand
From a husband in a far-away land.

As she reads, the tears begin to flow
for she misses her true love so.
He saved the life of his best friend;
When, oh when, will this war end?

Among the flowers she walks again
hand in hand with her true love friend;
She walks among the flowers
now in her busy days and hours!
