Guy and Eileen Breedlove: 2003I found myself unable to focus
on anything other than you
as the Doctor spoke of an unplanned journey
one we did not choose

Filtered light shining through the blinds
lay gently upon your shoulders
along with the weight of the whole wide world
crushing you like a ton of boulders

The Doctor spoke of cancer and chemo
but my mind just drifted away
unable to grasp or understand
exactly what he had to say

All I could see was my loving husband
fighting back a river of tears
like a frightened child needing his Mother
to calm a mountain of fears
