MY BRAVE AND MIGHTY SOLDIER

You were classified M.I.A.
so very, very long ago
I still wait to hear the words
“Your Soldier’s coming home!”

I think of you each passing day
in my heart you’re so alive
it seems hope is strengthened
with every tear that I cry

Many thoughts go through my mind
when I hear the words missing in action
it causes so much heartache and pain
setting off emotional reactions

At night when I close my eyes
you are always in my dreams
sometimes I see you safe in Heaven
other times I hear desperate screams

Were you captured by the enemy
and existing in dark pits of hell
hanging on by faith and hope
praying that God will send help?

At times I feel you’re safe and secure
maybe lost with your memory erased
and I pray God will be your guide
getting you out of that place.

There are moments I know in my heart
you paid the ultimate sacrifice
and it will never be forgotten
for freedom, unselfishly gave your life.

As long as you are missing in action
there will be no way for closure
I won’t give up until you are found
my brave and mighty Soldier.
