TWO DAYS AFTER HALLOWEEN
Two days after Halloween
Folks are back to being mean
Not a whisper on the train
everyone is dressed so plain
No one don’s a witch’s hat
Folks ignore the old black cat
As she crosses in the street
Remnants of a hallowed treat
Float across November skies
One or two recycled cries
Of the child, who glommed his treats?
Tummy aches replace the sweets
Spiderman is missing too
Rumor says he’s caught the flu
Politicians ride the bus
With a promise to discuss
Issues – as they sound so slick
Too much candy – MAKES ME SICK
Tricks turn into practical jokes
Business suits replace black cloaks
Dracula has gone to bed
Counting cash instead of dead
Halloween is three days old
Skies turn dark, it’s getting cold
Costumes folded up away
Ghouls and goblins cannot stay
They return to school or work
Frowns replace the werewolf smirk
In the sky, a crescent moon
Halloween is gone too soon
