TOP OF MY HEAD POEM
Of course I will not laugh at you
but with you I will smile
Please know in fact that you are home
And like me, have a style
A grace, a sense of innocence
But yet, no ingénue
Your writing has a seasoned voice
With many facets, too
You tell us things because you trust
Please know that I trust you;
you know me from the inside out
a poet – just like you
But if you see the way I spell
please tactfully omit
and if at times you are provoked
by Col… just say Bull-S__T
But when it comes to hopes and dreams
you’ve found no better place
To tell us in your own true words,
what you cannot erase
Your past, your present, and what’s next
The choice remains with you
Still – we both know – you have no choice
See… I’m a poet, who
Would tell her story anywhere
until one day I found
My voice was talking to itself
and no one was around
Who seemed to want to hear some more
except The Poets here;
So this is where I always come
to throw away my fear
And face the things I want to face
with syncopated words
To write for those who want to read
By now, you may have heard
My poems, although I’m not like Faye
or Col… The Poem Machine
And Chris I say that with a Kiss
for now I’ll keep it clean
And say Bravo
You said it well, but Col will stir the pot
And then one day you’ll eat some words
And me… I’ll have forgot
