NEW YEAR’S EVE

The Three AmigosThe New Year crept in without much hype
07 was changed to 08
We sat and watched as the ball came down
Now midnight seems kind of late
While once I danced till the break of dawn
While once I drank pink champagne
I toast, these days, with a cup of Joe
From alcohol I refrain
This New Year’s Eve I was not alone
I spent it mostly with you
But Purr-C C Note was also there
His kitten purr echoed through
The Lincoln tunnel as we drove home
We’d spent the night at your place
You stroked his belly – he chased his tail
I watched the look on your face
That told me what I have heard before
That News Year’s Eve is the test
That who is sitting there by your side
Will be with you for the rest
Of all of what I will call 08 –
Three hundred sixty and three
Remaining days to be spent with you
Both Jazzpurr, Fatty agree
This New Year’s Eve wasn’t cold at all
The sky did not fill with snow
Though some would say it was too low key
For me, to watch last year go
While sitting there in your living room
With Dick Clark, Purr-c and you
One perfect start of a brand new year
I dream of all we can do
