Although I just got here, you say I must leave?
Perhaps, I can stay for a while?
Perhaps, I could just grab a little to eat?
I’m not trying to turn back the dial…
I don’t think I invented competition,
Although I’m not bad at pretending.
And possibly, why, when it’s my turn to leave
There’s not much that I’ll be defending.
If I’ve stolen some law and invented a God
to make my time here more appealing,
Then go to the vault and subpoena my will…
I’m sure there is more I’m concealing!
So lead, or follow, but… get out of my way.
I’m planning to stay for a while
And since I’ll be staying for more than one day,
I’m planning to do it in style.
And while we are talking of
nature and such
Remember, that she is a mother,
And that gives her the right to take center stage.
So time to move over, my brother;
And make room for those who are planning to live,
and those who are planning transition
and yes, even those who will dine by the bell,
for that is the human condition
That some of us do what we think is correct
and others just do as they please
And some of will just die of old age
and others will die of disease (a sneeze)
I learned as a child, that my eyes could play tricks,
My mouth often led me astray
‘Cause I had these ears that collected each word
I still tend to repeat what “They say”
For me – I decided a long time ago
That just ‘cause I can’t reach and touch
Does not mean that what I can’t see isn’t there;
That’s really a helluva crutch
To have to be able to point to the thing
That doesn’t leave room for invention
And think for a moment what that tends to do
for couples who’re planning conception
So let me now get to this concept Of TRUTH!
The truth is whatever we feel,
And no, I do not feel that now I must leave:
I’m staying – for me, that is Real!
