I MET A LONELY GIRL

I met a lonely girl tonight
Just one big ball of fear
And as we ambled down the block
I watched her disappear

Inside herself – just wound up tight
My words just made it worse
I saw the path that had been mine
A spell – bewitched – a curse

Possessed this girl – I understood
How free I truly am
The Universe has opened doors
No windows ever slam

I met a lonely girl tonight
Before the Grace go I
At first I tried to be a friend
My words just made her cry

She wanted me to prove to her
That we are not our thought
She ran as if to prove to me
That she would not get caught

Far worse than any argument
I did not disagree
I sanctioned what she feared the most
I said, “Not Up to me”

For you decide what you will fear
You always have a choice
And if you listen carefully
You’ll hear your Source’s Voice

The One that tells you what you want
And tells you what you need
And when you see it manifest
That’s when you’re up to speed

With whom you’re really meant to be
She did not comprehend
A single thing I said to her
I felt myself descend

Back to the land of loneliness
But not for very long
The Universe has taught me well
It’s given me my song

And all the people in my life
I have with them to share
The ups and downs and in-betweens
These days I’m hard to scare

I met a lonely girl tonight
And though I wish her well
I’m headed up different path
And far away from hell
