ORDER OF AUSTRALIA FOR IWVPA WEBMASTER

On the Australia Day Honours List - 26th January 2006, our Australian Webmaster, Anthony W. Pahl OAM was named the recipient of the Medal of the Order of Australia "for services to veterans through the International War Veterans Poetry Archives"

The Governor of South Australia, Her Excellency Marjorie Jackson-Nelson AC, CVO, MBE, invested Anthony other South Australian recipients with the insignia of the award in an Investiture Ceremony at Government House, Adelaide, South Australia on Thursday 6th April, 2006.

Photo #12: Anthony W. Pahl OAM with Mrs Betty Lawrence OAM. Mrs Lawrence acted as the Order of Australia Association host at our table, and we all found her to be charming, entertaining and VERY interesting. She was the 1st South Australian to volunteer for service in the Korean War and was one of only nine Australian Theatre Nurses to have served in the field with the Commonwealth Mobile Army Surgical Hospital (MASH) Units. Her 1999 OAM citation reads: "For Service to Nursing in Isolated Rural Areas (44yrs). Royal Australian Army Nursing Corps (Korea & Japan)" More information about this amazing lady may be found at on the South Australians at War website.
