MATE AND MATEE

The Mate and his Matee
Walked hand and hand
And left behind them
Footprints in the sand
There beside the ocean
For all the world to see
Footprints of two lovers
The Mate and his Matee

But the waves from the ocean
Washed the footprints away
Now the Mate and his Matee
Are but a memory from yesterday
But we can choose to remember
Their walks by the sea
In our hearts, they’ll live forever
The Mate and his Matee

Author’s Note: Since a male is a Mate, shouldn’t we call a female a Matee?
